FAQ | Gillies Cleaning

Water is first purified using reverse osmosis removing all the minerals and impurities that are present in our everyday water. This is then fed up through the water fed poles and sprayed onto the glass. The brush loosens the dirt and grime which is absorbed and flushed away by the stream of pure water. Because no detergent is used windows don’t get greasy and stay cleaner for longer. The glass is simply rinsed again and left to dry naturally. Glass is left spotless and streak free.

Legislation is currently being processed through Europe that will severely limit the use of ladders as ‘temporary work stations’. As a company I am not adverse to this development as accidents do happen. A water fed pole eliminates the health and safety concerns involving the safe use of ladders because water fed poles can be safely operated by a single window cleaner from the ground. This system is the safest window cleaning method for reaching and washing exterior high windows in UK.

A water fed pole can reach windows above sensitive ground areas such as lawns and flower beds and reach previously inaccessible areas. Water fed poles extend up to 60ft for total window cleaner safety and reduce disturbance to any occupants. Conservatory roofs and windows above conservatories can be cleaned safely from a standing position on the ground. Offices can be cleaned even when their car parks are full making the windows inaccessible with ladders. Window frames and sills are left much cleaner using a pure water system. No damage is caused to the window frames sills or the building compared with the normal method of leaning ladders against them.

This process effectively involves ‘brushing’ your windows clean with pure water. As such they will be left wet and will need time to dry naturally leaving the desired result. Due to using pure water it will dry leaving no residue.

Over the space of two or three visits the process will ‘leach’ all deposits from around the frames and sills resulting in an improved result each time until ultimately the finish will be effectively ‘sterile’. Please be patient if the initial visit is not perfect. Customers who have previously had a traditional window cleaner who used detergent may find it takes more cleans with the pure water window cleaning method before windows appear completely spotless and streak free. This is because the detergent leaves a film of grease on the windows. If the windows continue to still leave “spots” on the window after this period please don’t hesitate to call us and we can help rectify the problem.
